The Chronicles of Apu

Desperate Apu, walked away from the premises of the company after having a tiff with the security personnel. Apu is not convinced to accept the reason the security person told for shutting the company indefinitely on the day he went to receive the job offer letter. Eventually it resulted in cornering Apu, not only to leave the company but this goddamn world. Apu seems not bothered about his walking in the expressway in which all the cars raced at rocket speed. Nothing stopped him from his mission to kill himself.

Life couldn't be better than this for Apu. Driving the imported car in the expressway gave him the pleasure of owning it leaving behind the sordid faced boss. He rewinds his memoirs to remind himself what all he would’ve missed if he succeeded in his attempt to kill himself in the same expressway. He giggled to himself thinking of all the joy he has got. Happiness flooded all over his feet on his last day as a driver which he tried to hide from his boss.

Looking at the driver, Apu thought about his whirlwind life. He precisely remembered the days when he was in the driver’s seat of the lavish car and his life and the bliss he had on those days till the last moment in that profession. Owning a car didn’t give the pleasure of driving it to Apu. He is scared of losing what all he got. Momentarily he cursed god for saving him from a suicide that he attempted almost two decades before and provided with all the glee in the world and now threatening to take it all back.

When he succeeded in convincing the pawn broker for granting him oxygen for the next month by pledging against his offer letter which he is going to get from the company, Apu never imagined about such a situation would happen the very next day. He walked right in to the middle of the expressway and stood still. Though many cars raced against him, nothing came in the lane where Apu is standing dejected. Finally he decides to wreak havoc in the expressway.

At the Zenith of happiness, Apu wanted to reach the company earliest as he decided to resign the next minute he reach there, despite the brutal look from his boss for his rash driving. Staring at him through the rear mirror, Apu thought to himself “Poor fellow, always in distress”. Perhaps he doesn’t know the formula of being elated. Apu decided to increase the acceleration proportional to the intensity of his boss’s vindictiveness and tested the maximum speed for the last time.

Ignoring his driver’s ignorance, Apu decided to sack him the next minute he reaches his company. For a while Apu enjoyed the speed envisaging him in the driver’s shoe. He also thought about something in his mind and told to himself, OMG! Please let it happen.

Though all the cars managed to miss him, Apu never want to miss the next one. He is glad enough to realize that he is not going to confront a cheap car as soon as he saw an imported car came on his way.

Before reaching the destination Apu thanked the driver who saved his life and also the reason behind choosing this profession. All of a sudden, a decade old scene flashed into his mind. His body trembled to see the images right through the windshield. But the speed didn’t grant him consent to think whether it is real or just a hallucination. Apu lost the control of the car.

Finally for the last time the smile peeked from its hideout. Looking at his driver instability and the act of a maniac in the road, Apu became euphoric. He knows by his reminiscence what is going to happen within the next minute. He felt himself in the twilight zone.

Despite of losing the control of the car, Apu was firm in not to hit the person. He tried desperately to save him.

Apu opened his arms, yelled “Here it comes” and ran right in-front of the car.

After completing all the formalities to enter the company, enchanted Apu proceeded to get the offer letter not before a colleague of the security rushed to him and said boss was dead in a road accident and as a result the company will be shut indefinitely.
